Celebrated for the joy of breaking fast, this Eid falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar. With the month of Ramadan over now, it is the time to reset and reassess our eating habits and daily lifestyle patterns.

1. Don’t Overindulge

Lavish food on dastarkhwaan is motivation enough to enjoy Eid more so. Which is great but harmful for so many reasons. It is easy to overindulge in every kind of food during Eid which leads to inconsistent digestion patterns. It’s always advisable to take 3 meals a day as your metabolic process undergoes a change because of the difference in eating schedules.

2. Continue Fasting

I know how it sounds, but I only mean continue fasting once or twice a week even after Ramadan. Eid celebrations need to be carefully managed in the coming days. Your body is still under the impression of changing eating patterns and timings. Give your body a blend of both until it adjusts to your daily routine.

3. Abstain From Smoking

Ramadan is a blessing, especially so, for smokers who are trying to quit. If you are a smoker and have been steadfast during the whole month of Ramadan, here’ a chance for you. Continue abstaining from smoking even after Ramadan and in no time, you will find yourself in a smoke-free lifestyle.

4. Purify your Intentions

Islam is the only religion where even the intentions are rewarded. Your intentions reflect deeply on your deeds. Ensure your good deeds are for Allah and it’s not only Ramadan when you are being judged. You will be judged for all your life and all your actions.

5. Eat Dried Fruits

You may be wondering, what does this have to do with your Post-Ramadan preparations. Dried dates and figs are an excellent source of iron, fibre and antioxidants. This means they are not only extremely nutritious but also protects against harmful radicals associated with ageing.

6. Exercise Matters

There is a varied misconception that Ramadan can help in weight loss. In truth, Ramadan may be a contributing reason for weight gain. This is due to binge eating during Sahoor and Iftaar time, followed by a lack of physical activity.

Finally, always remember that a healthy body maximizes productivity. Keep telling yourself that your body is the place where you have to live all your life. Make your body fitness a priority, treat it as a blessing and you will begin to see amazing health benefits.

 Eid-ul-Fitr is upon us!
