My eye works as an X-ray machine now. It is all about practice. I can effortlessly tell from coldness to how profound the fracture or which portion of the body is fractured.ÔÇØ Says Wali Mohammad.
Sitting in his room, a streak of light coming through a jar makes Wali MohammadÔÇÖs wet eyes shine. He is continuously rubbing hand of a young boy trying to fix his dislocated bone.
Most of the patients who visit Wali Mohammad at his residence in Dargah have already visited doctors to no avail. ÔÇ£We see patients who are referred from even GovernmentÔÇÖs Bone and Joints Hospital, Srinagar.ÔÇØ
All you need to have is a little bit of faith in my work else healing is impossible. People would come with complete broken limbs and go back walking on their legs,ÔÇØ he claims.
Wali says by just one look I can tell you patient will be cured or not and till this date, I am never wrong with the diagnosis.
Wali a famous bone fitter of Kashmir locally known as ÔÇ£wratten GorÔÇØ, is blessed with spiritual power and people at Srinagar have more trust and faith in him than a qualified doctor.
In conversation with Wali Mohammad, illaaj.com asked him about his most challenging experience as a bone fitter, he closed his eyes for a moment and finally said.
ÔÇ£Yes, there was a guy from Rajori Kadal, who worked as a clerk at a brick kiln in Pampore. He came to me on his friendÔÇÖs reference, his case was typical in many ways and I was barely 25 years old.ÔÇØ
When a person was first bought to Wali Mohammad, the patientÔÇÖs whole flesh had started to decay under a close-fitted plaster bonded all over his body. ÔÇ£Patient has fallen from the second story straight on the concrete floor and doctors have wrapped him in a plaster for next three months.ÔÇØ
But with time instead of healing his situation got worse and doctors had suggested another round of plaster for next two months, Wali says. ÔÇ£Finally, after six months of his nightmare, he landed at my door. I was a bit nervous as his entire body was decomposing slowly.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£First step which I took was unfolding his entire plaster, then by using small pieces of cardboard and bandages I wrapped him up in my own way. His condition was worst, both his legs were broken with massive dislocations. I thanked to god with my efforts and his help I was able to make it.ÔÇØ
After complete six-week medication patient was able to walk. ÔÇ£It is GodÔÇÖs gift and nothing else. One cannot claim to be superhuman or special. We are but a means, the real healer is He Himself,ÔÇØ he said. ÔÇ£One must have a clear conscience to succeed in this profession.ÔÇØ
The entire family of Wali is into the same profession and they have rented small rooms in different places across the valley where they visit on particular days to treat patients. In Srinagar, Wali Mohammad is known as Divine Healer.
